The technological revolution in Belgium

  • With the current state of technology, 2.2 million jobs in Belgium, or 49% of the total, are likely to become automated sooner or later, at least in their current form.
  • 35% of jobs have a high probability (greater than 70%) of becoming automated.
  • Among the most "automatable" jobs, office employees, shop assistants and domestic employees are the groups that could lose the most staff due to task automation.
  • Nevertheless, these results are also an opportunity for the economy: technological progress does indeed allow people to be released from work in order to undertake new tasks and emerging new activities. The challenge is therefore to adapt to progress, so that it becomes a source of well-being.
